Therapy

Therapy is for everyone. As a new mother, you may be experiencing intense loneliness and having difficulty connecting with people. Perhaps you feel your past is haunting you, or suffered birth trauma, and you cannot leave it behind. Or maybe you are in the midst of postpartum depression and experiencing your darkest days.

Maybe none of this resonates with you, and instead, you are just looking for routine mental health support to continue the momentum of motherhood wellness you are already experiencing. Whatever brings you to the Motherhood Wellness Clinic, we are here to support you.

The Motherhood Wellness Clinic approaches therapy from a holistic perspective. This means we include natural remedies such as friendships nurtured in our mom groups, nutrition, nature, and thought patterns in our treatment plans. The Motherhood Wellness Clinic also uses evidence-based therapy techniques such as EMDR, CBT, and Emotion Focused Therapy to help support all areas of maternal mental health.

Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

Trauma is a common experience in the lives of many individuals, and its impact can manifest in various ways, including anxiety, numbness, dissociation, or panic. Even memories that may not be consciously remembered can be stored in the body and triggered by seemingly insignificant stimuli such as a smell, person, or place. Trauma is not dependent on a person’s experience but rather determined by how someone reacts to a specific incident.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapeutic tool to help individuals process traumatic experiences and alleviate related symptoms. As an EMDR therapist, I have successfully used this technique at the Motherhood Wellness Clinic to help clients overcome various challenges, including birth trauma, childhood trauma, anxiety, and postpartum depression.

EMDR can be an effective standalone treatment or used with other talk-based therapies like cognitive-behavioral therapy.

By integrating EMDR into a comprehensive treatment plan, clients at the Motherhood Wellness Clinic can often achieve quicker and more robust results.

What To Expect

Therapy is a collaborative process between the client and therapist. It provides a safe, confidential space for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with the support of a trained professional.

During therapy sessions at the Motherhood Wellness Clinic, I actively listen, provide feedback, and offer guidance and support. Together, we work to identify and understand your concerns, set goals, and develop a treatment plan to achieve those goals. As a clinician who works from a holistic perspective, my treatment plans include items to help improve your mental health by way of your physical, emotional, relational, and environmental health.

The length and frequency of therapy sessions can vary depending on the client's needs and circumstances. Some people may benefit from short-term therapy to address a specific issue, while others may desire longer-term treatment to address more complex or ongoing concerns.

Ultimately, therapy is a process of self-discovery and growth. It helps clients better understand themselves, improve their relationships with others, and learn new ways of walking through life's difficulties. By working collaboratively with a therapist, clients can create positive life changes and achieve greater well-being.
